Mandrel Bends and Tube
Regarding exhaust systems, most vehicles on the road use crushed, bend exhausts; crushed bends are cheap to manufacture and can be bent on a basic tube bender using dies on the outside. The downside to crush bends is that as the tube goes through the bending process, the centre point starts to crumple, reducing the tube diameter. In addition, the sharper the bend, the tighter the crush area becomes, restricting flow.
Whereas having crush bends on the average car is acceptable and is suitable for petrol or diesel vehicles, the same cannot be said for any performance vehicle; this can include smaller engines where the cars are either tuned by the manufacturer are an aftermarket tuning upgrade.
On the other hand, mandrel bends are manufactured on a mandrel bending machine. A mandrel bending machine is expensive, and the process is very different. A mandrel is inserted inside the pipe when the tube is bending to maintain the tube diameter uniform throughout the bend, allowing maximum flow.
You will find performance cars or cars of high value, all have mandrel-bent exhausts, and when it comes to replacing the exhaust, it should be replaced with a mandrel exhaust for continuous flow without restrictions. Yet, we see many performance vehicles with crush bends conducted by budget companies.
In conclusion, when replacing the exhaust system in a performance or high-value vehicle, it is recommended to use a mandrel bend exhaust for optimal performance.

Recap
MANDREL BENDS:
Ideal for high-performance and high-value cars to make sure the gasses vacate quickly without any restriction.
CHOICE:
Customers will choose which system they want; the exhaust technician can guide them according to what you are trying to achieve.
CRUSH BENDS:
Crush bends are suitable for any petrol or diesel vehicle where performance is not an issue as it’s cheaper to produce exhausts. Most crushed bent exhausts are usually made from mild steel systems.
MONEY SAVER:
A mandrel bent exhaust system can save you money in fuel costs as the flow is uninterrupted and back pressure is reduced; not only that, but when it’s built using stainless steel, it will last a lifetime.

COMPETITORS
When it comes to exhaust services, not all companies are created equal. Some are franchise shops, while others, like Profusion Customs, are true specialists with a deep understanding of the science behind exhaust systems. It’s important to know that anyone can buy a franchise and start building exhausts without prior experience or training. The question is, who do you trust to give you a quality job?
In the past, some companies would give very low quotes with the expectation of additional work. However, these companies soon realized that specialists like us could offer the same work at a fair price, so they began raising their prices to give the illusion of offering specialist work. Profusion Customs believe in providing transparent, fair and accurate pricing based on the work required. You can trust that you’ll get the best quality service.
